2 days ago I received my spare parts Super Spirograph found on ebay USA and thanks to the seller, who delivered internationally. When I opened it there was a big WOW! It was packed in spirographic doodles paper! I LOVE the lid with the wheel chart inside. This is not what mine has which was produced in France once. They are not 100 % compatible, but almost, so with some extra tape and care it works to combine the parts.
The reason I bought it was mainly because there were also those shaped wheels added I didn’t have with my old Spirograph.
I couldn’t stop doodling anymore so the pics are not the best made in the middle of the night.
Here are some examples made with the eye wheel (my favorite) and with the triangle wheel. Scaled very small they are looking like snow flakes.
And my damaged Stabilo 88s are still good for drawing fillings. I have reordered these colors meanwhile and with less pressure they are working fantastic.
Have a great artsy weekend!
While I went into vacation mode during August (urgently needed) I tried to stay away from the computer. But those who know me also know I just can’t stop fiddling and playing. So I took the time to find my old spirograph set from the attic.
I stumbled over it through Inkscape, which has a spirograph function and I just didn’t understand what it does and how it works.
So now I searched for the box with numerous plastic rings and wheels and I remembered how it worked very quickly even if it was ages ago.
Two parts are missing, but I am glad it’s only two you don’t necessarily need and it still works well.
Until the new colored ball point pens arrived I did a lot of tests with all the wheels with simple blue pens.
It was hard to find beautiful pens, but I got 2 different types from Staedtler with different line thicknesses. They have to dry fast, because the wheels cross the lines over and over again while drawing.
Impatient me often slipped from turning too quick, ruining the whole drawing, so this is really something to do accurate and slow.
After all it was a lot of fun. Lets see what I can do with all the lovely circles and shapes I made. I already scanned them for further use.
And now I understand the digital version, too, yeah! It is all about mathematics 🙂
Anyway I find the real drawings very charming with the dots and spots and irregular lines.
If you want to learn more about spirograph I found some great infos here:
Have fun and if you stumble over one of those sets by chance, try it !
Now it’s the time again to through out the little seeds in little pots and watch it growing. I LOVE this. I still find it a miracle how nature is awaking in spring and seeding for me means health, wealth and fun.
Tired of the ugly white plastic sticks I usually used I took the time to design my own labels. This way you can make as many as you need. They are done quickly on a sunny afternoon, just print, cut and glue them around a tooth picks or skewers. They look pretty if you give away some seedlings as gifts.
You can get the downloadable files from my Etsy shop.

I love lace of all kind.
Now I tried the first time to cut paper lace doilies on my Silhouette Cameo. I recently bought many designs from the Silhouette online store, because I find them soooo complicated to make, that I do not have to do this myself.
I even had a bit of a hard time to cut the finished designs. I had to try many different settings and paper qualities. The intricate designs will not work with cheap paper, that tears easily.
You have to use new sharp blades and a slow speed.
I put different designs and sizes on letter size format and came up with a stack of beautiful lace doilies. Now I have to think what to do with them and just started with some tags I decorated with flower embellishments from my own black and white flower collage sheets.
and more of my little spring birthday card production.
After one week of wonderful spring weather winter is back here with low temperatures, heavy clouds and much wind.
So I am going to decorate our home tomorrow with colorful paper flowers I have been drawing, coloring and cutting during the past weeks from scratch, first the outlines, then filled with pattern and over layed with another hand drawn thick lines pattern.
After years of doing computer graphics I really love to sit with markers, paint and real papers recently.
Anyway scanning and combining the drawings and paintings gives great effects and my new Epson Expression Photo Printer makes just perfect prints and big size, too.
And I can keep my originals untouched.
Just be inspired and make your own. It is not that difficult.
Or go get the flowers as collage sheets from my Etsy shop
I just did not have the heart to cut my original gelli prints so I have scanned them all, yes all 79 I have made during my “test the gelatin printing” and “test the new gelliarts plate which arrived a couple of days ago” phase. But now they are saved forever and I can work with them without damaging anything.
Wow, and it was so much fun to recolor some of them, play with hue and saturation, contrasts and brightness.
I printed some of them on my favorite structured off white card stock. They printed like a charm and are looking great, perfect for making tags together with some butterfly and flower embellishments.
I die cut not only tags, but ovals and circles. The first time I tried triangle tags and I like them.
Have a great and sunny day!
