making endless damask paper rollers for gelli printing

I recently ordered 2 sets of damask embossing folders from Sizzix with having wall paper like prints in mind. The little size does not cover a letter size sheet though, so I tried to make endless rollers.
I found a matching roll within my fabric stock and cut it in pieces, also the embossed papers and fixed them around the rolls. You need to have very good double sided tape for this to get a clear endless pattern.

I used the rollers with the gelli plate and it was such a sticky, messy and intricate action, that I totally forgot to make pics. I was not happy with the results anyway. But with a couple of days rest in between, then scanning some of the best sheets, recoloring them on the computer and printing the new colors I found them usable.

I cut tags, ran them through the Big Shot again embossing them with the same patterns. I brushed distressed ink pads over it softly to get more contrasts and then covered them with embellishments. At the end I love them and I will bore you even more with tags 🙂

May an angel be vain?

On my tags YES.
And when preparing to bring a love message OF COURSE.

For the backgrounds I embossed my own printed card stock, then softly rubbed distressed ink pads over the embossed parts in matching colors to get more contrast on the damask and tape measure wall paper pattern.
Then I added the embellishments.

Have fun looking at my newest tag creations.

Burlesque Gift Tags

Yesterday I made a series of embellishments from my little digital doll “Lola”. I have created / illustrated the little figure in various situations and styles years ago.
Printed on glossy photo paper with a white edge the intricate parts were able to be cut even in a small size, which is the most cute.

I started to use them for gift hangers. As backgrounds I used my own printed gelli prints and solid color embossed tags, paper lace and a piece of antique lace.

These funny gift tags are perfect for delicate gifts like lingerie, vintage lace or chocolate packed in a classical chocolate box. I can’t wait to find the perfect recipiants to give them away.

Handy DIY seeding and plant labels

Now it’s the time again to through out the little seeds in little pots and watch it growing. I LOVE this. I still find it a miracle how nature is awaking in spring and seeding for me means health, wealth and fun.

Tired of the ugly white plastic sticks I usually used I took the time to design my own labels. This way you can make as many as you need. They are done quickly on a sunny afternoon, just print, cut and glue them around a tooth picks or  skewers. They look pretty if you give away some seedlings as gifts.

You can get the downloadable files from my Etsy shop.

A look into my craft room and some storage tips

I have to admit I am a collector, but I also love to sort things so that I can find everything directly. With my ongoing work as a crafter and artist away from the computer my workshop gets from one mess to the next with whatever new techniques I try (and start to love).

So we visited IKEA this week and got 2 inexpensive new shelfs, which were set up and hung by my wonderful man directly ( I HATE setting up IKEA stuff, he LOVES it…). The Friday before easter is a day off in Germany so I used the extra time for sorting my latest die cuts and other materials. I added some more hooks on the wall for my most used tools and found a way to hang the bakers twine spools with using a big bead on the bottom. I found this very relaxing, almost meditative, so I also calmed down from some extremely stressy weeks, perfect!

What we eat is dependent not only from what we like, but also from how it is packed…lol…so my partner has to eat some certain Haribo drops over and over again and watching our health I also buy a lot of biological zucchini, which come in firm rectangle plastic bowls, that can be stapeled very well.
The salad from our local Pizza delivery service is served in thin bowls with great neutral lids, so Pizza always comes with salad. All these packages are perfect for temporary sorting while you work especially for cutting stencils and catching the cut outs for further use.

And I LOVE shoe boxes, not only for die cutting. They are heavy and make beautiful embellishments with the BigZ dies. But they are also perfect for storing all the mixed media supplies and you can just take out the box you actually need right now for stamping or gelli printing or drawing…

Enjoy the look into my new craft room as long as it is nice and neat. And don’t miss the great storage containers you get for free.
Have fun!

Paper lace doilies on elegant black and white gift tags with flowers

I love lace of all kind.
Now I tried the first time to cut paper lace doilies on my Silhouette Cameo. I recently bought many designs from the Silhouette online store, because I find them soooo complicated to make, that I do not have to do this myself.
I even had a bit of a hard time to cut the finished designs. I had to try many different settings and paper qualities. The intricate designs will not work with cheap paper, that tears easily.
You have to use new sharp blades and a slow speed.

I put different designs and sizes on letter size format and came up with a stack of beautiful lace doilies. Now I have to think what to do with them and just started with some tags I decorated with flower embellishments from my own black and white flower collage sheets.

Senseless Telephone birthday card

Many birthdays this month, so I started to paint, print and punch today to make some new cards.
A great chance to try out my new dies I had ordered lately. I just couldn’t resist to get 2 new BigZ dies from Tim Holtz at the big Sizzix sale and some little thin dies, which are great to use for all the scraps from the electronic cutter like the grass fringes.
The funny parasols are on a collage sheet I did not release yet. It will come to my shops soon.

It was fun to play around. This card is my favorite of todays creations, a total senseless telephone in the grass. Sometimes you just have to do stupid things and call it art. I used some printable papers from Joyful Heart Designs for the telephone die cuts and the lovely flower back ground. They are printing beautifully and the grundy and retro look is great for my telephones.
